Please Tadashi, listen to your own advice!!!
Episode 17
Akira received a call from her father that he wanted her to attend an omiai if she’s not interested in someone at the moment. Anyway, Sakura came over the Hakusen and invited the members of SA to her school’s festival to help out. Of course, with Ryuu in, the twins are in; with Hikari in, Kei is in; Tadashi who is always in asked Akira if she was in. But she’s distracted.
Hikari noticed that Akira was feeling down and talked to Sakura about making it fun for everyone. When they got t Kokusen (Sakura’s school), Akira still seems pretty down until she saw gardens. They got to a salon where each member of SA were pulled by different students. Hikari noticed that Akira was still feeling down and that Yahiro was standing behind curtains just looking at Akira. Anyway, when SA loitered to look around the festival, they were pulled in back inside by Yahiro for the host club that Yahiro and Sakura were running. When Yahiro turned to leave, Hikari asked him why he wouldn’t talk to Akira, but he told her that it was none of her business. A little later, Akira lost her mobile phone and asked everyone to go look for it with a promise of a price.
When Akira and Yahiro were left alone, he started talking to her, but Tadashi stepped in and told him not to lay a hand on her. And Yahiro caught the happy look on her face and turned to leave. Tadashi asked her what was wrong. When she asked him why he would think something was wrong, he mentioned the time he’s known her and he joked about with her being depressed, he wasn’t getting beaten up.
Outside, Yahiro was looking for Akira’s phone and almost took his anger out of Hikari until Kei stopped him. Anyway, he found Akira’s phone and tried to give it to Kei to give it to Tadashi because Akira will be happy if she got it from him. But Kei (and eventually Hikari) told him that he should be the one to give it back to her. He returned it to her and she thanked him and made her smile when he tried to act tsun-tsun when Hiakri told him about the hard work that he went through to get it.
Later, Akira was on the phone with her father telling him that she will go to omiai which was overheard by Tadashi. He told her that she might end up meeting a good guy for herself and wished her luck, but Akira cut him off by slapping him shouting that she hated him.
Episode 18
Pinking up from the time when Akira ran away after hitting Tadashi, she ran out of the room and bumped into Sakura, who she poured her heart out on at the roof while drowning her sorrows with food. She and Sakura (who has been constantly frustrated with Ryuu and Megumi hanging around Jun) organized a mixer where they intended to build reverse harem to get back at the men in their lives.
Megumi, who saw Akira running and crying in the hallway, reported it to SA and distracted Tadashi, which Kei noticed. When Tadashi escused himself to go to the toilet,, kei suggested the one in the party hall where Sakura and akira were having their mixer. When he got there, he tried to apologize to Akira, thinking her crying had something to do with him. But Akira knew that it was all her fault and started crying again. When he tried to calm her down, she pushed him away and ran away. Sakura was so pissed off at Tadashi that she started beating the crap out of Tadashi, telling him to cool off and think about what he did.

The one who saw to him was Yahiro who told him to stop lying already. Tadashi was clueless about what was going on, he asked Tadashi to think about the time he and Akira snuck out on his birthday party when they were younger. Then, he and Akira explored the town and ended up in a place that overlooked the pretty lights of the city. Then Akira started thinking about that she has always loved Tadashi from that time but it wasn’t what he wanted. So she decided that it was time that she stopped what she felt about him. Hikari found her and she cried to her but she told him that Akira should just apologize to him.

She found Tadashi by his bike and apologized and he asked her if she wanted to go for a ride. They went to the same (???) place where they looked at the city. She started thinking back to the time when they were children and decided that the memories were enough and that she will stop wishing for more. Then she asked him what she did to thank him for taking her out, which was teaching him how to dance. They danced again and then she said that she wanted some juice in a nearby vending machine. And for the last time before shutting her feelings for him, she said that she loves Tadashi out loud.
When she was satisfied, she stood up and turned around to find Tadashi hearing what she just said then hit him to run away. She thought about lying to him about it, but she said that her feelings were going to start over again and since he already knew, she should just say it out. Knocking him to the ground, she told him that she was in love with him and that it made her sad that he wanted her to go to the omiai. Tadashi then told her not to go to the omiai and just stay with him. Then there was a flashback to when they were children on Tadashi’s bicycle on their way back home and Akira sleeping behind him, Tadashi told him that he loved her. And when she woke up, she asked him what he just said, but he just told her that it was nothing.
Episode 17 was fairly interesting. The start of Kokusen School Festival was the last chapter of SA that I read before the anime started and put me off. Yuh… this show also became the victim of my good-manga-crap-anime-drop-manga thing. Though as an afterthought, I was really interested in what would happen to Yahiro and since the anime is starting to show pretty good last couple of episodes, I am thinking of picking it up again. I pretty much cheated on making the summary because other parts of the show were not so interesting to me. Especially the fact that Hikari dressing up in that creepy bunny outfit that I don’t really care to see again.
Episode 18 showed one of the awesomest love confessions that I’ve seen in a long time. I don’t care that it’s Akira. A great love confession is a great love confession! I love love love this episode! I didn’t mind that the fist half was crap with the SA Host Club. I love the second half from the time Yahiro was looking into Tadashi until the end. I heard that this was actually not in the manga and Yahiro not Tadashi who snuck out the house with Akira, but hell, who am I to complain. As I just said a couple of sentences ago, this episode is awesome. OK… now that I finally got that off my chest. Why the hell has it to be Akira!? I don’t particularly like her as a character – let alone be a pair-up partner for Tadashi, the bestest character in this show!
And yeah… it was enough to sustain me with enough enthusiasm for the show until the last episode. As I also mentioned before, and despite Hikari’s moron tendencies, I am still looking forward to the Hikari and Kei pairing. Considering that the two characters have somewhat become minor characters for the last couple of episodes, I am expecting to be blown away when that episode finally comes. Though I’m not sure if anything can top my high from episode 18.

Hikari and Kei are now minor characters? Awesome to hear. I’m still catching up (always) but they are, quite possibly, the anime couple that annoys me the most. Go TadashixAkira!

@Caitlin: they are! until episode 19. but based on the previews for episode 20, it may focus on them (in addition to jun and sakura)

You’re not missing out that much… They just lucked out randomly with good episodes. But yes… compared to the earlier episodes of the season, the latter ones are major improvements…
