Itazura na Kiss 19 ~Crazy For You~
Posted by biankita on August 23, 2008
What are those flimsy books??? Kotoko should have thrown The Unabridged Webster Dictionary (2 volumes of hardbound encyclopedia-sized word fun!) at Naoki if she wanted to knock some sense into him.
After Kotoko played Keita’s word for a joke, she got home. Naoki, who has been waiting up for her, just told her to hurry up and go to sleep.
When she got to school, Motoki thanked the girls for accompanying him/her last night on their drinking spree and said that crying make him/her get over everything. When she noticed Keita’s backpack, she told Tomoko to sit beside where he parked his backpack. But Tomoko said it all straight that she has no special feelings for him and that she was just excited about the autopsy practical.
Sign of Irie Naoki’s Depression #1: Giving out unsolicited advice to men more passionate than himself. But then again, everyone is more passionate than he is… -_-
She didn’t join her friends for lunch, excusing that she wasn’t hungry. But she was eating by herself and was ignored by Naoki when she called out to him. Then Kin-chan ran out of the cafeteria, carrying Chris, shouting for help. Naoki calmed him down enough to have him explain that she was burned with hot tempura oil. They went to the school hospital where it was explained to Kin-chan that her burns were bad enough to have scarring. When Kin-chan commented that she wasn’t even married yet, Naoki told her that it was alright since he’ll marry her anyway. Kin-chan told him to shut up and told him to just give her to another man to marry if that was the case.

Sign of Irie Naoki’s Depression #2: Acting more like a stalker than a husband.
Kin-chan walked out and went to Chris’ room, where Kotoko was looking after her, and asked her to marry him. She refused saying that it was bad that he would be marrying her out of sympathy. Kin-chan called her a moron and proved that it wasn’t because of sympathy by trying to pouring boiling water on him so the two of them would be the same. Of course, Chris stopped him and they were engaged.
That night, Kotoko was telling family about it and that she was so happy about it. When she went to the kitchen to get a rag for the coffee she spilled, Naoki called her that her phone was ringing, but walked out when he saw that Keita was the one who was calling. Kotoko answered the phone where Keita was reminding her of the due date of the report for the next day. She thanked him for it and was about to hang up when he told her about the things that he told her about the other night and that he was serious about it.
Sign of Irie Naoki’s Depression #3: Male bonding with someone he (with the exception of this one episode) has no respect for.
After Chris was discharged from the hospital, Kin-chan invited Naoki out that night to the restaurant where he treated her to an extravagant meal as thanks. When he asked how things are between him and Kotoko, Naoki told her that he didn’t understand why but he’s very irritated at the sight of her ever since Keita showed up. Kin-chan, being a veteran of jealousy, told him that it was what Naoki was feeling and laughed at Naoki because there are some things that even geniuses couldn’t understand.
The next day, Tomoko was telling everyone about her new apartment and invited everyone to visit her some time. Her apartment was near the park where Naoki and Kotoko rode a boat together – where couples are cursed to break up. Mokoti whispered that Keita should take advantage of it, but Keita just pretended not to understand what he was talking about. Tomoko told them that the boat thing was just superstition and that hydrangeas were really pretty there.

Sign of Irie Naoki’s Depression #4: Alcoholism
That night, she invited Naoki to the same park but he turned her down saying that he was preparing for an academic conference. Kotoko finally snapped and started throwing book at him saying that it was not how things are supposed to and told him about how Keita feels about her and how serious he was and how right he was when he said that Naoki doesn’t care about her. Naoki slapped her to calm down and Kotoko told her that she was tired of her one-sided love and ran away to Tomoko’s house where she and the rest of the girls drank the night away. When Marina and Tomoko passed out, she told Motoki about demanding how she ended up being but Motoki told him that she shouldn’t look at it so badly since he chose her.
Not to be outdone, Naoki, after receiving a dressing down from his mother for chasing Kotoko away, drank with his father-in-law where he told her about Kotoko’s mother. She was just like Kotoko but the best wife in the world for him because he could always be his true self when he was with her.
Sign of Irie Naoki’s Depression #5: Picking fights… I wish. Yes, damn it, Keita! He’s picking a fight. Someone, punch someone!!!
The next day at school, Kotoko was suffering from a hangover when Keita handed her a drink (something for hangovers) and told her that if she ran away from home, she could stay with her because he was in love with her – in earshot of everyone in the cafeteria. Naoki was there too and told him off that he was wrong and that he was jealous of him because he’s always been able to be himself and that he needed Kotoko to be his true self so that was the reason why Keita needed Kotoko and he did. Needless to say, they made up and hurried home to make babies.
Well, it was in evitable – it is Itazura na Kiss after all. I just wished there was more of a fight. In fact, from the time that Naoki was able to confront Keita, I was cheering for any one of them to punch the other – I really didn’t care who. I just wanted to see a fight. Not that I’m the type of person who believes in physical combat to prove one’s feelings, but I just wished there was more for Naoki to prove that he really loved Kotoko. But then again, it could be because we’ve only seen much of Kotoko’s agony in her relationship with Naoki and not much of his.
By the way, Kin-chan is awesome in this episode… He just proved that he’s really more of a man than Naoki is when it comes to relationships.
It was a pretty awesome episode, but was below my expectations. I was really expecting more dorama (or a fight) but then again, Kotoko is easy to please so Naoki’s pithy words were enough to satisfy her. Seriously, she should have been more demanding and made him earn her forgiveness, especially considering how irrational and stupid his reason were for being jealous.
Next time:

After making up, Naoki returns to being a tool and ignores Kotoko’s graduation ceremony. She’s crying so that must be it.
