Cakegasm???

It’s Christmas!

Ono wanted to make two cakes as part of their Christmas menu. Of course, Eiji (who loves cake) and Chikage (who loves everything) loved what Ono baked. But even Tachibana loved it, which is saying a lot because he doesn’t like cakes that much. The first cake was chestnuts mixed in with cassis and the second one was a simpler one based off a shortcake. Tachibana was going to complain about why he would serve a plain shortcake based cake when the detective that worked on Tachibana’s kidnapping case came up to their window saying that shortcakes are traditional Japanese cake, which is why it will be popular. In thanks for his regular patronage, Ono and Tachibana handed him a box of free pastries.

issa-sa was right. Watching this show for the facial expressions weigh just as much as the cake pr0n.

Tachibana was thinking of a marketing gimmick for the shop when he thought of free delivery where he will be dressed as Santa Claus and will be driving around on his red Ferrari. When he was thinking about how his stubble will make his Santa troublesome, Ono told him that it didn’t matter since Santa has a beard. Then Ono remarked how he always thought it strange that when they were in high school, he always thought Tachibana to be cool and aloof. He never saw him as someone who would try so hard.

Then Tachibana started thinking back to high school and told Ono about a girlfriend he had – who he started going out because she had big breasts, but ended up liking a lot and would end up getting excited about talking to her on the phone for three hours about nothing. He adored his girlfriend but she broke up with him because she felt as though he was always trying too hard for her and that she is seeing someone else who wasn’t like Tachibana but made her feel like herself when she was around him. He admitted to Ono that after that, he always thought that people are always worrying about him and that at time, he would act naturally but he will end up worrying about then which is why he ended up the way he is.

Santa-san – dieted and has dissed his sleigh for a Ferrari.

Chikage came to the kitchen in tears because Urushibana, their scary customer was there. She ordered croque en bouche for a Christmas cake to be delivered at her house on the 24th for a Christmas party. And everyone is there for a special training – Eiji, because Ono thought that it was time for him to do decorate the pastries by himself; Tachibana, because he suggested that the croque en bouche should be covered in caramel that was done at her place; and Chikage because he will be serving the in-house customers by himself.

On Christmas Eve, Tachibana enthusiastically came in his Santa suit where he was met with bad reviews from customers because he was a poorly built Santa. He had thirty deliveries and was about to give up on his last one when he ended up in the Urushibana house where the head of the house was happy to see him – because everyone were happily drunk already.

more cake pr0n.

When he came back, he was depressed about having 29 misses and only 1 hit. He wondered why he tries so hard but Eiji made him feel better by saying that one of the customers calling up to say that her daughter was happy that Santa came to her home.. Tachibana told him about the time after being kidnapped that he realized that people were worried about him – because he didn’t remember anything (a trauma he thought was because he may have been molested since his kidnapper didn’t ask for any random). Eiji told him that there was nothing wrong about trying too hard because he does it too because he didn’t want to end up being that orphan that people had to feel sorry for so it was alright for Tachibana to act the way he is.

Anyway, the four guys celebrated with Ono introducing to them side dishes that he wanted to add in the menu  Of course, them not being sweets, Tachibana loved it and asked for a glass of wine – which was actually just sparkling juice for children. He got pissed and asked for real alcohol.

Side dishes are good too. Mmm… goat milk pizza.

The episode has more about the characters than the spirit of Christmas itself – which is something that’s expected I guess considering this is Japan. Anyway, watching this episode made me want to bake something… like I haven’t been doing it for the last couple of days – which explains why I am such a delinquent blogger turned frantic with so much stuff stuck in my hard drive left unblogged.

It was really nice and poignant how Tachibana’s please-you personality is explained. From his girlfriend – who’s a weirdo because what girl wouldn’t want a boyfriend that worships that ground she walked on – to his mother, who want to worry about him but in their efforts, he ended up being the one who wants to please them. If this was a psych paper, he would make an interesting subject to determine if he’s a subject of his surroundings or an innate sociopath. But it’s not, but I can’t help think that there are a lot of people who end up being epic life failures because they have fallen victim to their own circumstance. It’s actually quite admirable that Tachibana ended up as normal as normal can go. I really didn’t have anything life altering happen to me. I had a positively boring childhood, but being an highly empathetic person that I am, I often think about how I would have end up had I been on other’s shoes.
