Fall 08 Anime

The fall season is gonna start roughly two weeks from now. everyone has been posting up their lists for the season for the last month or so. Might as well join the bandwagon… However late I am.

Since Winter last year, I always watch everything that premieres – if it wasn’t for that, I would have missed great stuff like Moyashimon, Kamen no Maid Guy and Detroit Metal City, which I would have passed on based on their descriptions alone. For Summer 08, I used the Baka-Raptor Ultimate Guide to Picking Summer Anime… it worked, but it’s kinda tedious (Sorry, Baka-Raptor!) and since I watched everything blind just for that project, it kinda left a really bad taste in my mouth ~Damn you Strike Bitches! *Ahem* So this season, I just browsed through everything and read various summaries (mostly from the THAT Fall 08 post).

EDIT: OK, since Baka-Raptor’s not gonna be talking to me for a week, I might as well, set it straight anyway or else I’ll forget. What was tedious about this guide was my reporting of it since I told him I will be making a study of the effectiveness rate of that guide, not his guide.

Nodame Cantabile Paris-hen ~

I am such a classical music junkie that I will overlook the mediocre art and the fact that it’s J.C. Staff. (Well, they’re not so bad since they produced two of my most loved series – Hachikuro and Nodame S1). Love the first season, love the j-drama, love the specials, love the manga… Yea, I am definitely going to love this.

Considering how Nodame tends to be (full of music and some random bits), I’m actually not sure how to blog this.

Skip Beat ~

The anti-shoujo that everyone’s been raving about, which I promised myself that I will read but never got around to because of sheer laziness which will have Inoue Marina and Miyano Mamoru as seiyuu??? Hell yes! Well, yeah… apart from the great revenge is a bitch plot.

I will blog this regularly.

Hakushaku to Yousei ~

I did not spend my high school life reading Victorian England romance novels to pass this one up! This show had me at 19^th century England. Of course, I don’t know much about the show, but if this leans towards romance, it’ll end up on my list. And even if it wasn’t, I’ll still probably watch this.

I will probably blog this regularly.

Jigoku Shoujo Mitsuganae ~

I’m watching this not just because I’ve already watched the other two, but despite the over-the-top and exaggerated plotlines of Enma Ai’s customers, the human psyche aspect of the show still intrigues me. I like episodic shows, at least I don’t have to follow that much of it.

Blogging this will be easy since it’s episodic. But I will most likely blog this if a totally interesting episode comes up. Unless of course… I drop stuff from my maybe list and won’t have anything else to blog about.

LEANING TOWARDS YES

Yozakura Shiusou ~Yozakura Quartet~ ~

For the simple reason that the artwork attracts me, I will most likely give it a benefit of a doubt. What bothers me would be that blue-haired neko person.

Hyakko ~

Kinda sounds like Lucky Star without the otaku references and Minami-Ke. It’s worth a look just for the fun of it.

Toradora! ~

I keep telling people that I will watch this conditionally but almost everyone assures me yes. So I am placing this under my Leaning Towards Yes category. I have to admit, the premise of the story has my curiosity piqued.

Kuroshitsuji ~

Because it has Sakamoto Maaya, I am putting this on my Leaning Towards Yes category. But then again, I did the same thing when I was looking forward to World Destruction last season. (Yet another) butler named Sebastian FTW!

Chaos;Head ~

For my dose of blood. Yes. Let’s see how this will pan out.

Junjou Romantica 2 ~

Since this was my first (and only) yaoi series, I will still watch it. Heck, I’ve been following the manga anyway – however random I pick it up. Although, I am starting to have reservations towards it because maybe the reason why I enjoyed the first season was because it had the novelty of being the first yaoi series that I watched. This is still undecided.

Tytania ~

Based on reading on the summary, the story is something I might enjoy, but I tend to get bored with the space genre easily. Though the term “space opera” is fascinating. But me no like the character designs much.

Shikabane Hime: Aka ~

Kill 108 corpses to get to heaven? Aren’t corpses already supposed to be… dead? Questions from that WoW episode of South Park – How does one kill that which has no life? It seems interesting enough but I’m still leaning towards no on this one. But this is good and Chaos;Head sucks, I’ll pick this one up.

Kyou no 5 no 2 ~

It sounds like a less exploited version of Kodomo no Jikan. Xephfyre assures me it’s really funny. So I’m giving it a go.

Tentai Senshi Sunred ~

Looks weird – vampires and spoofing anime??? It might be good but this may be an epic fail. But probably will go to the bin since I always find something weird about animated detective shows.

NO – Not that I’m not gonna be watching at least one episode of these. But based of the descriptions, I know I may not end up watching any of them. But I could be wrong.

Ef ~A tale of melodies~ ~

I couldn’t get myself to get past episode 4 of ~A Tale of Memories~ so I’m not seeing the point of watching this. Such a shame though since I like SHAFT.

Tales of the Abyss ~

Um… a lead character named Luke who is a son of a duke. If his father dies, he will be called Duke Luke? Amnesia, mysterious woman and discovering many weird things about the world he lives in. I’m still getting over Code Geass.

Bihada Ichizoku ~

This is gonna suck. But I’m very curious as to how things will come out here.

Noramimi2 ~

There was a first Noramimi??? An anime about mascots? Doesn’t every other anime already have a mascot???

Kannagi ~

I couldn’t stop giggling reading the first sentence of the premise of the story because it reminded me of a time back in 7 BC (Before Cable) when I saw a Filipino version of this which is more like a reverse, semi-erotic Pygmalion story. Another guardian deity anime, without the simple appeal that Natsume Yuujin-chou had. I pass.

Michiko To Hatchin ~

Um… I don’t get it. They break out of prison and have adventures together???

To Aru Majutsu no Index ~

A supernatural nun and random college dude. Isn’t that too overdone? Except for the nun part?

Kurogane no Linebarrel ~

It’s… GONZO.

Ga-rei-zero-~

The premise sounds like it’s gonna suck. It probably will. Sad. Even my love for Tomoaki Maeno can’t get me interested enough for it like it did for Someday’s Dreamers.

Macademi Wasshoi! ~

Stupid art with ef-ed up breasts.  No.

Casshern SINS ~

The live action movie was enough for me.

Hokuto no Ken Raoh Gaiden: Ten no Haoh ~

Summaries point to Fist of the North Star. I still don’t get it.

Kurozuka ~

If it’s Animax, it must be bad. Sorry, Animax Philippines doesn’t do dick to improve their crappy reputation that it’s reflective of other countries’ Animax – even Japan’s. The story sounds like Blade of the Immortal, which I lost interest halfway through the fourth episode.

Akane Iro ni Somaru Saka ~

Summary sounds like my cup of tea. But since it’s based on an eroge, I might end up dropping this too.

Clannad ~After Story~

No harem. I didn’t get past episode 4 of the first one.

Vampire Knight Guilty ~

Liked the manga, thought the anime was such crap that I dropped the manga. So no more. Pass. But I am willing to watching the Shiki episodes only. I’m counting on hazy_undercover for the heads-up ^^ No more whiny emo dudes for me thanks.

Battle Spirits Shounen Toppa Version ~

Bad character designs. TOEI. Based on a card game. Hell no. I never saw the appeal of the genre. Not even Pokemon. How is this going to change my mind?

Stitch!

Disney was fine for me until I was 12. After Aladdin, they never released anything good anymore. So no.

Gundam 00 Second Season ~

No… Macross Frontier is going to be my one mecha this season – which I should have picked up instead of Geass. Besides, I don’t want to be like a certain someone I know who has been watching this show forever that he has already requested that we put “Died without knowing the end of Gundam” on his tombstone because this show just goes on forever.

Rosario to Vampire CAPU2 ~

Everyone was really excited when the first season premiered so I checked it out. I stopped watching this halfway through the fist episode and wondered why a lot of people seem to like it. I thought there was something wrong with me. Then everyone else started dropping this as well. There are things you need to fulfill in order to get away with much fanservice, like a good story to start with.

Kemeko Deluxe ~

Engaged to a rice cooker… right. I know stupid when I see it.

One Outs ~

I hate sports. And I hate sports anime. The only one I could stand was Hungry Heart and it was only because it was the only show in the timeslot where everything that showed in every other cable channel sucked and I like watching European football. Baseball is the most boring sport to watch ever – and this includes its retarded, bastard cousins softball and cricket – and anime about it is even worse.
